CAFE EXTRA

Cafe Extra is a WEEKLY free coffee morning, based at the Kirkburton Hub.

The coffee morninng is an ideal place for people to meet, and to find out what social activities are going on in the local area of Kirkburton Ward and Denby Dale Ward.

 

The coffee morning will include a Cyber Cafe which will allow people to get online.

 

We will host the councils' Community Plus team, who are social prescribers, to have a hot-desk, for anyone wanting to know about local social groups. 

So, what is extra?

The Coffee Monring is weekly, and open to everyone. Free drink on entry, PLUS, the extra bit is the following in addition to the coffee morning...

Computer Training

The Cyber Cafe is available every week, with access to the internet and a laptop is availablt to hire for the coffee morning period.  In addition to this, we will have a Computer Tutor available to help get you set up on the free online computer training course and show you how to overcome your computer problems.  

The Computer Tutor is available on the first Friday of the month.

Carer's Cafe

The Carer's Cafe is available on the second Friday of the month, and is a peer-support-group for carers to have some private space in our meeting room, to share experiences and stories and support each other. 

Please note that hte Carer's Cafe runs in a private space away from the weekly Cafe Extra coffee morning.  Some people may wish to bring their cared for with them to the coffee morning whilst they go to the Carer's Cafe.

Learning Week

Learning week is a 60-90 minutes session, maybe a taster of a larger subject or it could be a full course, depending on subject.

If you wan to learn something new, you are welcome to join us for sessions on the following subjects:

  • Dementia Friends

  • CPR (First Aid Resucitation)

  • Flower Arranging

  • One Pot Cooking for One

  • Writing a CV

  • Registering as Self Employed

  • Understanding Probate, Power of Attourney and Wills

  • Changing Energy Supplier

Learning Week is on the third Friday of the month.

Meeting New Friends

Community Week is a market placce style event, with stalls from different community groups from the HD8 areas.  This is a great way to meet new friends at a new social activity for you, and what a great way to find that new social activity.

This will be on the fourth Friday of the month.
