Dementia Groups

The Time Together team operate a series of weekly activity groups around Kirklees for people who are living with early to mid stage dementia.  The groups work with Older Peoples Services in Kirklees Council and the NHS Admiral Nurses.

The Groups:

Monday 10:00 to 15:00

Emley - Community Centre

Friday 10:00 to 15:00

Emley - Community Centre

The main theme of the groups is to have as much fun and positive time as possible, to help reduce the frustrations around living with dementia.  Our members tell us that they do not always recall what they have done when they talk to their families, but they do know that they enjoyed their time and look forward to the following week.

To help combat loneliness for people living with dementia, we arrange a trip on most months to help connect our members with the outside world.  Where we normally cook a freshly made two course meal, on our trips we would take a picnic or eat out.

The groups have a combination of employed and volunteer staff who are all safeguard checked and trained.
